Mr Graham Venn trained and qualified at the Middlesex Hospital in 1977. He subsequently trained in Cardiothoracic Surgery at the Harefield, Middlesex and Brompton Hospitals in the United Kingdom;  further post graduate experience was obtained in specialised Mitral Valve Repair under the tuition of Professor Alain Carpentier at the Hopital Broussais in Paris. Mr Venn was appointed as Cardio-Thoracic Surgeon at Guy's and St Thomas' Hospital, London in 1989 where he was Director of Cardiothoracic Services from 1993 to 1996. He heads the Department of Cardiac Surgical Research in the Rayne Institute, St Thomas Hospital that has specialised research interests in protection of the heart and other major organs during open heart surgery.  Mr Venn's surgical practice has particular interests in reconstructive surgery of the mitral valve and the surgical treatment of ischaemic and valvular adult heart disease. Mr Venn additionally specialises in general adult thoracic surgery. Mr Venn is a past Hunterian Professor of the Royal College of Surgeons of England and recent Past President of the Cardiothoracic Section of the Royal Society of Medicine.  Mr Venn acts as an expert witness for medico-legal matters. Mr Venn is Chairman of the Medical Advisory Committee at the London Bridge Hospital and the Chairman of the Combined Medical Advisory Committee of the HCA group of hospitals in central London (www.hcahospitals.co.uk).
